Before stitching, place a bowl of saltwater and a shard of ice beside your cloth.

Dip your fingers in both—feel the contrast.

As you stitch the compass, speak aloud the names of places you’ve lost, found, or longed for.

With each quadrant, ask:

What direction does my heart resist?

What element does it crave?

What memory needs thawing?

When finished, fold the cloth inward from each edge, like closing a map.

Place it under your pillow for one night.
